Role Overview
The Branch Service Manager oversees all service operations at the Romulus, Michigan branch. This full-time, on-site role is responsible for managing service technicians and an administrative assistant, coordinating scheduling and dispatch, ensuring quality control, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The position also enforces safety and compliance standards and monitors branch performance to drive operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing field service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Service Operations
- Receive and open all service calls in Crane Logic (excluding inspections and parts jobs).
- Prepare jobs by confirming required parts, equipment, and manpower for service, inspection, modification, and new crane startup projects.
- Review and sign off on all service reports for accuracy, including technician hours, crane information, and parts used.
- Prioritize and coordinate service breakdowns; obtain customer authorization for repairs or issue quotes promptly.
Scheduling and Dispatch
- Schedule technicians at least one day in advance and ensure all job details are communicated clearly.
- Maintain an organized scheduling calendar to balance workloads and optimize technician utilization.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Review inspection reports and issue repair quotes promptly, prioritizing safety items for same-day communication and written customer acknowledgment.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and customer requirements.
Project Coordination
- For new cranes, monitor the delivery schedule under the Operations tab in Crane Logic, review job details, and coordinate start-up activities.
- For modification jobs, collaborate with fabrication and other branch teams as needed for larger projects.
Team Support
- Provide guidance to field technicians via phone, documentation, or on-site assistance.
- Promote teamwork and share technical knowledge across the company.
Customer Relations
- Serve as the primary customer contact for service-related matters.
- Communicate regularly with sales representatives to ensure customer needs are met and feedback is shared promptly.
- Deliver exceptional service that reinforces the company’s reputation for reliability and responsiveness.
Equipment Management
- Oversee branch tools and equipment, ensuring proper care, maintenance, and functionality by all technicians.
Qualifications
- Service Operations Management, Team Leadership, and Scheduling/Dispatching coordination skills
- Customer Relationship Management and Problem-Solving abilities
- Familiarity with OSHA Compliance, Preventive Maintenance, and Quality Control standards
- Strong Communication, Organizational, Analytical skills. and leadership skills.
- Technical knowledge in overhead bridge crane systems is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field is an asset
- Experience in the crane, construction, or heavy equipment industries is a plus
